Riley S

Riley was absolutely fantastic! She clearly knows her way around both the campus and Auburn's traditions. She was incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question with enthusiasm and depth. On top of that, she was so kind and genuine. Just by chatting with her I can tell that she truly loves her school. Her passion for Auburn made the tour even more enjoyable and really solidified my interest in becoming part of the Auburn family.

Your hosting questions, answered

How do I become a SchoolScoops guide?

+

Sign up and create your free listing. Share a few details about yourself, your studies, and your interests—it only takes 2 minutes. Once our team reviews and approves your listing (within 48 hours), you’ll be live on the platform and eligible to receive Tour Requests.

How much do I get paid?

+

Guides earn $40/hour for each tour. Tours are either 1 or 2 hours, so you will earn $40–$80 per booking. There’s no cap on how many tours you can host.

We also offer group tours with 5+ guests, where you can earn significantly more per booking. If you’re interested, indicate in your listing that you’re open to hosting group tours.

When do I get paid?

+

Your payout will be available to cash out to your bank account 24 hours after each tour is complete.

How do I get booked?

+

When a guest sends you a Tour Request, you’ll receive a notification via email and text. You can accept or decline each request based on your availability.

Do I need to set my availability in advance?

+

No. We don’t rely on static calendars since student schedules can change. Instead, you’ll receive real-time requests and can accept or decline based on what works for you.

What happens after I accept a Tour Request?

+

Once you accept a guest’s Tour Request, the reservation is confirmed. You’ll receive the guest’s contact and booking details, including the meeting point. You can also message your guest directly through the platform to coordinate before the tour.

How do I message my guest?

+

Once a tour is confirmed, you can message your guest directly through the platform. Just go to your reservation details, where you’ll find a messaging thread to coordinate timing, the meeting point, and any other details before the tour.

What if I need to cancel a tour?

+

If something comes up, let your guest know as early as possible. Before canceling, try to reschedule by messaging them directly through the platform—many guests have flexibility.

You can cancel your tour directly through the platform on the “My Tours” page. Frequent cancellations may impact your ability to receive future Tour Requests.

How long are tours?

+

Tours either 1 or 2 hours, depending on what the guest selects. You’ll know the duration in advance when you receive the request.

What do I need to do during a tour?

+

Your role is to give an honest, helpful look at campus life. Show key areas of campus, answer questions, and share your personal perspective on academics, social life, housing, and anything else the guest is curious about.

Is there training or resources to help me as a guide?

+

Yes. We provide resources and guidance to help you get started and succeed as a guide, including best practices for hosting tours and communicating with guests.

Do I need prior tour guide experience?

+

No experience is required. The most important thing is that you’re friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, and able to share your college experience openly.

Can I host video calls instead of in-person tours?

+

Yes. You can offer both in-person tours and virtual video chats, depending on your availability and preference.

How do I stand out and get more bookings?

+

Complete your listing fully, write strong answers, and be responsive to requests. Guides who respond quickly and earn positive reviews tend to get booked more often.
