Describe your college experience
I am grateful for the opportunity to experience a diverse and dynamic academic journey throughout my college years. I began my studies as a Film major at California State University, Northridge, before transferring back home to pursue Business Administration at the College of San Mateo. After two years of exploring this field, I transferred to the University of California, San Diego, where I am now majoring in International Business with a concentration in Marketing. Each stage of my college experience allowed me to explore different academic interests and immerse myself in unique learning environments, which proved to be both enriching and invaluable to my personal and professional growth. I have thoroughly enjoyed each chapter of this transformation, and I am eager to share insights, tips, and guidance with incoming students to help them navigate their own educational paths and answer any questions they may have.
Tip for future students
One tip that immediately comes to my mind, and this is also something that I shared with my younger sister, who is transferring this year to UCSD as well, is to join clubs and organizations. This is by far the best wya to grow your network and find new friends with similar interests. It also gives you an opportunity to learn more about the school system, campus li,fe and culture, and even more about yourself as a person. In addition, I have always emphasized saying yes to everything and trying out new things because you never know how it might impact you positively. There is always something exciting about trying something new, and it presents a great opportunity to learn and grow.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far is MGT 162 Negotiation. This is my favorite class because negotiation is a necessary skill that everybody needs and is useful in many day-to-day situations. I enjoyed how the classroom was set up into smaller groups, and especially liked how the professor allowed us in class to practice the negotiation tips and strategies against other classmates. The final was the most interesting and fun final I have ever experienced. It was an eight-on-eight in-person group negotiation representing both sides of Korea. The objective was to come to a peace treaty agreement, which my team was able to secure at the very last minute of our negotiation by employing the walk-away technique or the best alternative to negotiated agreement (BATNA). Overall, I learned alot from this course and would recommend it to anyone interested.
Career goals
My current career goal is to pursue a role in business development. Through my experiences as Director of Professional Outreach at Alpha Kappa Psi, as well as through multiple marketing internships, I have gained valuable insight into the responsibilities and impact of this field. I have discovered that I am deeply motivated by building meaningful relationships, fostering collaboration, and contributing to long-term partnerships that drive business growth and expansion. As a people-oriented individual, I genuinely enjoy listening to others, understanding their challenges, and helping them identify effective solutions. This combination of relationship-building and problem-solving is what excites me about a future in business development, and I am eager to leverage my skills to create positive outcomes for both businesses and the communities they serve.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I am deeply passionate about photography and any creative work, so I like to go out on a photoshoot with my friends, mainly taking fashion portraits or pictures of cars. I also like to go to the beach and relax while listening to music or staring into the ocean as I reflect.
