Frequently asked questions
SchoolScoops is a marketplace that connects prospective college students with current student guides for private, one-on-one campus tours. Guides are real students sharing honest, firsthand perspectives — not admissions staff following a script.
No. SchoolScoops is an independent platform. Our guides are current students who are not affiliated with their school's admissions office. That independence is exactly what makes their insights so valuable — they can speak openly about every aspect of campus life.
Traditional campus tours are run by admissions offices and follow a set route and script. SchoolScoops tours are private, one-on-one experiences led by a current student you choose. You set the pace, ask the questions you actually care about, and get unfiltered, real answers.
You explore campus together with your guide, who shares their firsthand experience of student life — from academics, professors, and workload to dining, dorms, clubs, and social life. Think of it as a candid conversation on the move.
You and your guide will agree on a meeting spot before the tour. Most guides suggest a central location like the main quad, student union, or a campus entrance. You'll coordinate the details directly through the platform after booking.
Tours are either 1 or 2 hours, depending on what you select when booking. Most families find a 1-hour tour gives a solid overview, while a 2-hour session allows for a deeper dive into specific areas you care about.
Absolutely. The booking covers your whole group — parents, siblings, or anyone else you want to bring along. Guides are comfortable speaking with families and welcome questions from parents.
Yes. Many guides offer virtual tours via video call, so you can get an authentic inside perspective without needing to travel to campus. You can filter for guides who offer virtual sessions when browsing.
Think about what matters most to you — academics, housing, social life, career placement, campus culture — and come with questions. The more specific you are, the more useful your guide can be. No formal preparation is required.
If you're a current college student, sign up on SchoolScoops, complete your profile with details about your school, major, and interests, and you're ready to start hosting tours. It's free and takes about 2 minutes.
You must be currently enrolled as a student at your school. We verify enrollment through your school email address and personally review every profile before it goes live on the platform.
