RDY for summer tours!!! Keeping it Real w/Riley (Finance & Law Student | Club Te

Hi y’all! I’m a junior(academically a senior) currently pursuing a concurrent degree in Finance and Law & Justice. Around campus, I’m involved in Club tennis, Tri Delta, Harbert Executive Society, Working as a Peer Instructor at OPCD through the business college, Order of Omega, Women in Business, and the Phi Sigma Lambda Pre-Law Honor Society. Funny enough, Auburn wasn’t even on my radar but one spontaneous tour changed everything. I instantly felt the family atmosphere and the homey vibe, and I knew this was where I belonged. On your tour, I’m excited to share not just the facts, but my inside scoop the best spots on campus, hidden gems, and what Auburn is really like as a student. I want you to experience the same feeling that made me fall in love with Auburn!

Describe your college experience

Coming into college, my biggest worries were balancing everything and making friends it’s a big change. But I honestly adjusted way faster than I expected. What helped the most was realizing everyone else, no matter their year, was just as eager (and nervous) to meet people. I met one of my best friends in a class during my freshman year, and going through rush really opened the door to friendships and involvement right away. Since then, my experience has been amazing. Between the full SEC football and basketball atmosphere, Auburn’s beautiful campus, the vibrant church community, and always discovering new favorite study spots, I’ve gotten to enjoy every side of student life. Auburn has also helped me grow personally. I used to be a lot more introverted, but now I feel confident speaking up, making connections, and really getting involved. It’s helped me step out of my comfort zone and made college feel like home.

Tip for future students

Don’t be afraid to just walk around campus seriously. I didn’t do it much at first, but now I find new spots all the time that I wish I’d discovered sooner. Auburn is full of hidden gems, whether it's a quiet study area or a cool view. Also… tailgate! I was way too nervous to at first, but it’s one of the most fun and memorable parts of the Auburn experience. Academically, go to office hours even if your class is online. Professors are so much more helpful (and honestly kinder) when you reach out and show up in person. It’s also a great way to build connections for recommendations or future opportunities. And finally: say yes more than no. Go to that interest meeting, apply to that club, get coffee with that person from class. Some of my best memories and friendships came from moments I almost passed up. You never know what you’ll love until you try.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been BUSI 1010, the introductory business course. While many colleges have an intro class, this one stood out because it was fun, engaging, and really welcoming—definitely not intimidating. It gave me a great look into the business world and helped me realize I wanted to adjust one of my degree paths. What I really appreciated was how the class set me up for success beyond just academics focusing on building connections, creating strong LinkedIn profiles, and polishing resumes. It was reassuring to get that guidance early, so I wasn’t trying to figure everything out on my own. Plus, BUSI 1010 was where I met a lot of my friends from all different majors, which made the experience even better. It was the perfect mix of learning and community.

Career goals

After college, I hope to become a corporate attorney, combining my passions for business and law by using both of my degrees in finance and law & justice. Although Auburn doesn't have its own law school, I've found that it offers incredible resources for students pursuing law. From academic advising and career development to opportunities that strengthen law school applications, Auburn has given me the support and confidence to pursue admission to a top law program. My experience here has shown me that success isn't determined by whether your university has a law school—it's about taking advantage of the opportunities and mentorship available, and Auburn provides plenty of both.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night usually involves walking around downtown Auburn, trying a new restaurant, or just hanging out at a friend’s place. Whether it’s something low-key or spontaneous, I love getting a chance to unwind and spend time with people I enjoy.

Riley was absolutely the perfect tour guide! From the moment we met her, she made the experience engaging, informative, and genuinely fun. This was far more than your typical walk-around-campus tour. Since my daughter, Isabella, is interested in Auburn’s Business program with a specialization in Finance, Riley’s firsthand experience was incredibly valuable. She answered all of Isabella’s questions with honesty and insight, giving her a much better understanding of what it’s like to be a business student at Auburn. She also shared her experiences with sorority life, which gave us a realistic look at campus involvement and student life. What really impressed us was how knowledgeable she was. She shared so many interesting facts about Auburn’s history, traditions, and campus while making every stop meaningful. She never made us feel rushed and took the time to answer every question we had. Riley’s enthusiasm for Auburn is contagious, and it’s clear she genuinely enjoys helping prospective students find their place. If you’re fortunate enough to have Riley as your tour guide, you’re in for an exceptional experience. She made our visit memorable, and Isabella left even more excited about Auburn. War Eagle!
