Future Speech Therapist who loves BYU and knows campus like the back of my hand!

Hi, I’m Brea! I’m a Communication Disorder student who is aspiring to be a Speech Therapist. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and my first time ever moving was into my first college dorm! Starting college was a huge learning curve, but the best decision I have ever made was coming to BYU! I started school at BYU in 2023 and honestly had no idea what I wanted to do for my future career. Over my first year I found a ton of resources to help choose a major that I love! I was also a BYU delivery driver so I learned every inch of this campus very early on. I can’t wait to show you around!

Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college was definitely a challenge. Since I started college I have been working 15-25 hours each semester. It has gotten easier and I have gotten much better with time management since I first started, but it took a few months to adjust to the rigorous schedule.

Tip for future students

My biggest piece of advice is to stay ahead on school work. It’s so easy to fall behind during exam weeks, if you have the smaller assignments done early it makes it much more manageable.

Favorite class

My favorite class thus far has been my Introduction to Communication Disorders class. It was an incredible overview of the topics that I have continued to build upon over these past two years, and the career that I will eventually have as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Career goals

I want to be a Speech Language Pathologist. I would love to have a private practice so I can work with clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love watching sports with my husband and friends. We are big BYU fans and also love watching the Vegas Golden Knights hockey games.

High school or secondary school

Shadow Ridge High School

Favorite spot on campus

There are so many wonderful spots outside to study during the warmer months. In the winter I love to study in the Harold B. Lee Library, the Music Building, and the David O. McKay Building.

Meeting point
