Your Friendly, Neighborhood Pre-Law Student with a Deep Knowledge of Rutgers

Hey! My name's Anish, and I'm a Philosophy major here at Rutgers, with an intent to go to Law School after I graduate. I'm generally pretty easy-going, and I like playing video games, solving puzzles, watching movies, and exploring the weird and wonderful campus that we have here - there's always something to do, given the sheer scope of the University and our community. I'm especially familiar with the Livingston and College Ave Campuses, but I live on Busch, so I know a fair bit about that campus as well. I'm beyond excited to share what I've learned about this place, from the actual physical campus(es), to the best spots to eat, to navigating the intricacies of the occasional Rutgers bureaucracy. I can't wait to show you around!

Clubs, organizations & involvement

I'm part of Rutgers' Pre-Law Society, and I dabble in some hobbyist clubs, like the College Avenue Players (sketch writing) and Cheese Club (I know, I know; but it really is a fun time!). I'm also a radio DJ at Rutgers' very own 90.3 The Core!

Describe your college experience

At first, like many students, college was... a lot for me to handle. Suddenly, you have an incredible amount of independence! But you also have all the work that comes with that (and school in general). Eventually, though, with friends, focus, and a proper schedule, I have been able to make college work.

Tip for future students

Download either XRadar (Apple only) or RUBus for your bus app (to see when the buses are coming, routes, etc.)! The "official" one from last year was... not great, to put it nicely, and the one from this year doesn't seem spectacular either. The UIs of the 2 apps listed are pretty good. Also... just generally be wary of the LX.

Favorite class

My favorite class has got to be Logic 201 with Professor Baldino. I found the content to be super interesting, and the professor (a Columbia grad!) was compassionate and knowledgeable.

Career goals

I hope to go to Law School after my time here is up, and to then subsequently be a lawyer.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Hanging out with my roommate while I'm eating takeout from Harvest (though I wouldn't be opposed to some really good pizza), my radio playing in the background and Coke in hand. After that, I'd take out my Nintendo Switch and put some more hours into Breath of the Wild.

High school or secondary school

JP Stevens High School

Favorite spot on campus

The Rutgers Zone (Arcade) in the Livi Student Center is my favorite spot on campus. Not only did I spend a ton of my free time there with my friends last year, but every month they host trivia there with some pretty cool prizes... and I won! Twice!
