Wharton finance student-athlete who loves Philly and meeting new people
Hi! I’m Ashna, a junior at Penn studying Finance and AI at Wharton and playing on the women’s basketball team. I’m originally from Dallas, and over the past few years Philly has really started to feel like home. When I’m not in class or at practice, I love trying new restaurants, spending time with friends, and getting involved in different communities across campus.

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been shaped by learning how to balance the demands of Wharton with being a Division I student-athlete. Over the past two years, I’ve grown more independent, disciplined, and confident while exploring my interests in finance and AI and getting involved in organizations across campus.
Tip for future students
Take advantage of everything college has to offer, but don’t feel like you have to do everything at once. Get to know people outside of your usual circles, try new things, and don’t compare your college experience or timeline to everyone else’s.
Favorite class
Corporate Finance because it really taught the basics of finance well and it was interactive.
Career goals
After college, I hope to pursue a career in finance where I can combine my interests in markets, investing, and working with people. Long term, I hope to take on leadership roles and continue challenging myself in a fast-paced environment.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is grabbing dinner with friends, exploring somewhere new in Philly, and ending the night watching a movie or just hanging out. I really value having time to relax and spend time with the people around me.
High school or secondary school
Hockaday
Favorite spot on campus
High rise field because wehn the weather is nice, it is a beautiful place to sit outside and study.
Meeting point
Outside the entrance to Class of 1920 Commons on the University of Pennsylvania campus
