Hello! My name is James and I am a senior at GW studying International Affairs with a minor in French. I love to explore the DC area and play basketball with friends. On campus, I am involved in an International Affairs honor society (Sigma Iota Rho), a volunteering club (Dementia Art Therapy Alliance), intramural sports (basketball and football), and I have had multiple campus jobs​/​internships. I have had some great times at GW and I would love to share my experiences and show you our campus and what GW has to offer!

Describe your college experience

During my freshman year at GW, I joined an International Affairs Honor Society called Sigma Iota Rho, which allowed me to meet many friends and learn from the group's events. I am also an active member in a volunteering organization and I have had two internships and two on campus jobs during my first three years. I love to explore the DC area, whether it is by walking, running, biking, or taking the metro. DC has been such a wonderful place to live and I have made a lot of friends at GW through joining organizations, having campus jobs, or even just playing basketball on campus. I had such a lovely time studying abroad in Paris, France, as well. I was lucky enough to travel and have tons of adventures! Overall, I have enjoyed my time here, and I would love to have the chance to show prospective students around campus!

Tip for future students

One tip would be to be open to trying new things, such as clubs, or other organizations. Also, try to spend as much time outside exploring the city as possible (while also making time to study of course!).

Favorite class

I loved my class on the history of Italian food because we had expert guest speakers who brought incredible food products for the class to try! History is one of my favorite subjects, and I love food, so I was thrilled to take this class!

Career goals

I would like to go into international business or consulting and use my International Affairs degree to provide business analysis to companies.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would probably choose to play basketball with friends, work out, and then go for a long walk. Later, I would meet up with my girlfriend and cook a tasty dinner together in my kitchen!

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is probably the school gym because there are lots of different types of equipment to use (that I do not have access to in my hometown), and I enjoy playing basketball with friends. I also quite like the rooftops across campus for watching sunsets.
