USC Senior Film & TV Production major balancing full-time entertainment industry

Hi! My name is Ella and I am a senior at USC in the BFA Film & TV Production Program, with a minor in screenwriting. I’ve balanced a full-time career in the entertainment industry alongside campus life. Through my experience working professionally while studying, I can offer insight into USC’s film program, networking opportunities, internships, and what it’s really like managing creative work in Los Angeles. I’m also heavily involved in comedy on campus and in Los Angeles, so I’m happy to share perspectives on student culture, collaboration, and the social side of USC beyond the classroom.

Describe your college experience

As an out-of-state student, my experience at University of Southern California has truly become a home away from home. Beyond the incredible academics and opportunities, I’ve found an inspiring creative community filled with passionate, collaborative people who constantly push each other to grow both personally and professionally.

Tip for future students

Join clubs! Don't be afraid to put yourself out of your comfort zone because that is where you grow the most. Don't be afriad to try new things, college is all about being a sponge- learning as much as possible to find what your niche is!

Favorite class

My favorite class at University of Southern California has been Motion Picture Script Analysis. It completely changed the way I approach writing and watch films by breaking down story structure and exploring why some of the greatest movies resonate so deeply and work so effectively.

Career goals

I hope to be a comedy writer on a television show, or work in comedy TV in some capacity!

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is going to the movies, checking out comedy shows, or seeing live concerts around Los Angeles. I love really taking advantage of everything that makes the city such a vibrant and exciting place to live.
