USC Master’s Student | Real Talk About USC Life
Hi! I'm a second-year master's student at the University of Southern California studying urban planning. As a South Los Angeles native and USC student, I can offer an honest perspective on academics, campus life, housing, student organizations, career opportunities, and what it's really like to live and study in Los Angeles. I've worked in government relations, nonprofit advocacy, and community development, and I enjoy helping prospective students and families navigate the college decision process. Whether you're considering USC or just want a candid student perspective, I'm happy to answer your questions and share my perspective as a double Trojan who attended USC for both undergrad and graduate school and currently works on campus.

Describe your college experience
My college experience at USC has been incredible. As a double Trojan, I've had the chance to experience USC as both an undergraduate and now a graduate student, and each chapter has brought new opportunities, friendships, and growth. I've gotten involved through campus jobs, professional experiences, student organizations, and exploring everything Los Angeles has to offer. What I love most about USC is that there is truly something for everyone, and if you're willing to put yourself out there, the opportunities are endless.
Tip for future students
Say yes to opportunities, even if they’re outside your comfort zone. Some of my best experiences at USC came from stepping into situations I hadn’t planned for and being open to meeting new people. USC is a big university, but it starts to feel like home once you find your people. Also, take advantage of being in Los Angeles. The city offers amazing food, culture, internships, entertainment, and experiences that can make your college years even more memorable.
Favorite class
One of my favorite classes was an urban planning studio where my team redesigned the Expo Park/USC Station. I loved that we were solving a real-world problem instead of just studying it in a textbook. Growing up in South Los Angeles gave me a unique perspective that helped shape our recommendations, and it was rewarding to see how planning and design can improve the experience of people who rely on public transportation. The project reminded me why I chose urban planning and how impactful thoughtful design can be.
