University of Florida CJC Student Guided Tour
Hi, I’m Julia and I am currently a senior at the University of Florida. I am a public relations student, minoring in business administration. Both my parents went to UF and I have been visiting since I was a little girl. I know all the ins and outs of UF, plus little things they probably won’t tell you about on your tour. For me your college experience is more than just on campus, so I would love to not only show you around the school, but also what life is like around the school.

Describe your college experience
This was my dream school, and it has been more than I could’ve ever asked for. I have made so many friends, grown in so many ways, and I learned how to be a lot responsible by living away from home. It was definitely difficult transitioning at first, but once I found my place I was more than happy. I am so sad to be graduating next year, but hopefully I will be back soon for my masters.
Tip for future students
Study, but understand balance. It is nothing like high school. This school is very picky for a reason. When I first got here I was very used to doing exceptionally well in my class in high school without trying much. I had a very big wake up call. It is so important to be engaged in your classes from day 1, it saves you the horrible feeling of doing poorly on your first exam because you thought you were fine. That isn’t to say that studying should be your life. Find that happy medium. College is also about meeting new people and figuring out who you are or want to be. As long as you make sure one doesn’t overpower the other, the transition will be pretty smooth.
Favorite class
My Writing For Strategic Communications class has been my favorite. It gave me a lot of creative freedom to work on campaigns that I love. It also opened my eyes into how others think and perceive media, as well as how communicators need to tailor our media in ways to fit those audiences.
Career goals
I plan on getting my masters and then going to law school. I want to work in mass media or patent law.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would probably be getting dinner with friends and then going out together after.
