Describe your college experience

My transition to college hasn't been without hiccups, but that is the same for everyone. One of the biggest things for me was the prioritization of tasks and recognizing how long it takes to do daily tasks. In college, I had complete freedom over my schedule, so I had to find a reasonable routine that was realistic to how long it takes me to go about my daily life. For example, campus food doesn't take long to be prepared but you still have to walk to go get it and then whether you decide to eat in the dining hall, take it back to the dorm or meet up with friend causes a huge difference in the amount of time it takes you to eat. After I figured this out, I was able to find my rhythm, which allowed me to get involved on campus without feeling like it conflicted with my academics. I have met some amazing friends and wonderful faculty who have helped me to grow as a person. MY experience so far at Tech has been transformative!

Tip for future students

1. Get involved on campus, it's a great way to meet like-minded people, and you gain experience you can add to your resume. A lot of students who don't enjoy college were not involved or engaged in campus life. 2. It is normal to lose friendships. You are going to change, they are going to change, accept that your friend group will not be the same one you had freshman year. 3. You need to have self-discipline and learn to prioritize what's important. You are now completely in charge of yourself, so your decisions affect YOU and your academic performance. 4. Don't neglect your professional development, you are getting a degree to get a job at the end of your four years. Make connections with professors, faculty, and peers; many of them have industry connections or can write a letter of recommendation for you to utilize when you graduate. 5. You will experience failure or setbacks in college, and have hobbies and healthy coping mechanisms in place to make a comeback feeling refreshed.

Favorite class

Design Appreciation has been a favorite class of mine. It helps the class understand what asynchronous and virtual are, but I have had a growing interest in architecture, and the class gave me a chance to learn a little more about the topic.

Career goals

I plan to go into the industry in a process engineering or supply chain role, but I am still considering going to graduate school.

Ideal way to spend a free night

If I have a free night, I can spend it in a few different ways. It's easy to get burned out or just tired after a hectic week of tests and classes, so sometimes it's ordering takeout and watching a Netflix show. Other times, I will cook dinner with friends or go hang out at my friend's place.
