UMass Amherst tour guide - summer availability

AVAILABLE FOR TOURS OVER THE SUMMER My name is Avi and I'm a senior at UMass studying history and education. One of my jobs is delivering exams, so I am familiar with the buildings of pretty much every department on campus. UMass is so big that the buildings they show you on the general tour are usually irrelevant, and I can show you the ones you'd actually be taking classes in based on your major. Specialty areas: *Humanities and social sciences majors *Education majors *Disability accommodations *LGBTQ+ / trans experience on campus (including living in gender neutral housing) *Getting a job on/around campus *Living on vs. off campus (I've done both!) *Working as a Resident Assistant in the dorms & behind the scenes info on residential life *On-campus parking AND transportation without a car

Describe your college experience

At first I was stressed out transitioning to college, but over time I made good friends and found classes and work that I enjoy :)

Tip for future students

Because UMass is a big school, learning how to navigate bureaucratic systems and advocate for yourself is very important

Favorite class

My favorite class has been History of Disability in the US because I got to do my own research project and the professor was very supportive

Career goals

I hope to become a social studies teacher
