Describe your college experience

My college experience has been amazing so far. I moved from rural Ohio to Chicago not knowing anyone. I have made so many friends at the University of Chicago mostly from club activities. I rushed my sorority as a second year and I am beyond grateful I did. I also experienced a study abroad trip to Rome and made some wonderful friends I would have never met on campus. Academically, I feel the classes are not only preparing me for my future career, but are incredibly interesting as well. After I took an Italian language class my first year, I absolutely loved the program and decided to pursue a minor. The professors and the cultural events have given me insight to a language I was not familiar with at all. The transition into college my first year was hard because I didn't know anyone from high school, but I am beyond happy with my decision to choose the University of Chicago. I have made lifelong friends and allowed myself to be challenged academically to excel in my future career.

Tip for future students

Sharing a communal bathroom is not as bad as you think, but always remember your towel. Get a computer that works good even when the wifi is bad. The wifi can be spotty sometimes in certain areas of the school. Study with friends as much as you can.

Favorite class

My favorite class was called "Crime and Punishment: A Legal History in America" and it was my favorite because it was the topic I had the most interest in. The class explored the vast history of America's legal system and how it has evolved into our system today. By understanding the history of the criminal justice system, the class was able to have an academic discussion about the problems of the criminal justice system. Moreover, the class discussed numerous case outcomes while simultaneously discussing the punishments for each crime committed. I was able to gain a new understanding of how America transformed from colonial corporal punishment into reformation focused punishments. The class discussions were incredibly insightful and led me to pursue my major.

Career goals

I hope to become an attorney after college.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free is to hang out with friends or study in the library with friends. On the weekdays my friends and I love going to the Reg to study and then have fourth meal at Baker. On the weekends my favorite way to spend the nights is by exploring downtown Chicago or going over to my friends apartments.
