Sophomore Global Studies and Italian major at UCLA
Hi! My name is Emily and I am a current sophomore at UCLA. I am an out-of-state student from NYC but chose to venture across the country for UCLA. At school, I am a Global Studies and Italian major with an interest in business and the entertainment industry. Outside of the classroom, I am involved in my sorority, the Student Alumni Association, Italian Club, and more! I have also participated in UCLA study abroad programs. I am looking forward to talking with prospective students, so do not hesitate to reach out.

Describe your college experience
When I arrived at UCLA, I immediately started sorority rush. This helped me meet people and learn more about the school. From there, I applied to several clubs my first week and tried to find my community on campus. I have stayed in a few of those communities, but I mainly just hoped to get one or two good friends out of everything I joined. As time went on, I made a lot of lunch plans with people and found my friends. I have loved being involved in the Student Alumni Association and am looking forward to my next three years.
Tip for future students
Really try to immerse yourself! It can be hard when you go somewhere new and you might want to spend most of your time in your dorm on the phone with friends from home or your parents. While it is important to keep in touch with them, go outside and meet people. Everyone is in the same exact position as you and looking to make friends. Join clubs, try new activities, and start conversations with strangers. It pays off and it creates friendly faces for you on campus to wave to when walking to class.
Favorite class
Econ 12 Personal Finances was my favorite class this past year. I really enjoyed learning practical knowledge that I know I will apply in the future. The professor was super passionate about this topic and it showed when she would lecture to us. When I was studying, it did not feel like I was studying useless information that I would forget immediately after the class ended.
Career goals
I am still torn on what I hope to do after college, however, I am considering both a career in finance and a career in International Security.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would be spent with my four best friends. We would start at Kazunori in Westwood for dinner, go to Century City to watch a movie at AMC, get FroYo, and then end the night in my friend's dorm laughing about funny memories.
