Sociable Political Science Major that could call campus her second home

Hello, my name is Lyera, but a couple years ago my niece changed it to Lee, so you can call me that too if it helps! I’m a senior, focusing on Global Relations in my studies of Political Science with a minor in History. I might be a little over caffeinated in the mornings, but it’s well worth the caffeine rush. I moved just a little over an hour away, and trust me the drive back is not even a second thought. I’m obsessed with this place, it’s basically my home before my real home. Filled with amazing people, events almost every other day, amazing scenarios, clubs, and so many other opportunities. When I’m on campus, I’m typically right at the front of the line for Einstein Bros. Then, the HTC Center chatting it up, not really though, I’ll actually walk a loop around the track before I leave. Well actually I’ll swing by the bookstore on my way out, never a bad time for new clothes. Though, I’m typically dragging my friends to my favorite coffee shops, beach, hikes/trails, or even arcades. This campus is amazing, from hidden spots to campus events, or even new opportunities. Even though it can seem like a maze or overwhelming you’ll get your routine down in no time. If you have any questions, let me know and I’ll answer. If I don’t know the answer then I will find it and let you know.

Describe your college experience

My college experience has been good, I’ve always admired and loved the campus. I’ve been interested in the clubs and social life/events happening on campus. In my first three years on campus I worked as a DA and a peer support mentor. Meeting and working with so many people with different backgrounds and perspectives has always been something I’ve enjoyed. Nevertheless, I just wish I included myself more throughout the years, as this experience has been inspiring and encouraging.

Tip for future students

Don’t be in a rush, enjoy the college experience and your time on campus. Make countless memories and find your people, but most importantly earn that degree and be sure to stay on top of your classes. There are resources all across campus, so just know you’re never alone as there’s always someone to help you.

Favorite class

History 393: crime and punishment. It’s such an interesting course and to analyze cases throughout history and study how the decision was decided based on the evidence and time period. It’s beyond astounding how many things correlate or reappear throughout history.

Career goals

I hope to either further my career by earning a position at Coastal Carolina University and use my love for this school to assist those in anyway I can. In addition, I hope to further my studies by applying and attending graduate school at Coastal Carolina University, after I graduate.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night depends entirely on my mood, but as of right definitely walking down town. Especially during holiday seasons to see the decorations and lights, as well as, the gorgeous drive to downtown. However, when on campus I love late night Friday lights. Game days are fun and I love when the school hosts events around campus. I also enjoy late walks around the campus to pass through Prince Lawn or even go to either of the libraries to study or do assignments. Though, once that’s finished I will end the night spending time with my friends and there’s typically no deciding what we’re doing beforehand.
