Senior Marketing major & Combined MIB @UF with 2+ yrs of tour guide experience
Hi! My name is Julia Scarton, and I am a fourth year Marketing Major with a Spanish minor in the Combined Masters in International Business student. I am committed to helping others grow personally and professionally through leadership, service, and authentic connections. My proudest accomplishment at UF has been empowering fellow students through mentorship while leading cross-functional teams and representing the university. As a dedicated student leader who is passionate about serving others and building meaningful connections across the University of Florida community, I serve as Chair of the Florida Leadership Academy Advisory Board, a Florida Cicerones Ambassador, Senior Project Manager at The Agency at UF, Group Fitness Instructor, and host of The Joy Project with Julia podcast. I would love to give you my honest thoughts on making the most of your degree, hidden gems of Gainesville, what it was like to be an out of stater gator, what involvement looks like on campus, best spots on campus to study, all types of living arrangements, and anything your heart desires that would help you make the right decision for you!

Describe your college experience
It is so great to be a Florida Gator! Coming to UF was the best decision I have ever made. I am constantly pushed to be better & grow alongside my peers, given incredible leadership opportunities, and have been surrounded with the best school spirit.
Tip for future students
Rejection is just redirection! UF has an abundance of amazing orgs, leadership programs, scholarships, study abroad programs, internships, jobs, & more. Put yourself out there for as many things as possible and embrace the "yes's" and "no's" that may come your way. Academically, go to office hours — even if your class is online. Professors are so much more helpful when you reach out and show up in person. It’s also a great way to build connections for recommendations or future opportunities.
Favorite class
Quest #1: Time, Culture, & Identity because it expanded my way of thinking & prompted me to start my podcast, The Joy Project with Julia
Career goals
I hope to be an account manager at an experiential events/creative marketing agency that has international offices while keeping my two main values (human connection & storytelling) at the forefront of whatever I do!
Ideal way to spend a free night
Going on a walk with a friend in the late afternoon, getting dinner with friends (high chance of Swamp), & then seeing a beautiful sunset!
High school or secondary school
Peters Township High School
Favorite spot on campus
I absolutely adore the Plaza of the Americas! It is so fun to hang with your friends between classes, hammock on a pretty day, & be exposed to so many interesting events!
Meeting point
Century Tower
