Senior business student who knows the ins and outs of College park
Hi! I’m Ayaan, a senior at UMD double majoring in Supply Chain Management and International Business. Over the past three years, College Park has become a second home to me, and it’s given me some of my closest friends, incredible experiences, and plenty of stories to tell. I’ve experienced UMD from a bunch of different angles, from the Smith School of Business and football gamedays to Greek life to and studying abroad in Barcelona. I’d love to show you around campus, answer the questions you actually have about college life, and give you a genuine student perspective on what it’s like to be a Terp.

Describe your college experience
When I moved in freshman year, I was definitely a little homesick and it took me some time to get used to the independence and the distance from my family. I came into UMD knowing only one other person from my high school in New Jersey. I was able to make friends way quicker than I had imagined and really found a community that made College Park feel like home. I joined a fraternity and have since made countless memories with my best friends over the years. It's bittersweet going into my senior year now because I'm proud of my growth, everything I've accomplished, and all the fun I've had, but I'm definitely sad that my time in College Park is nearing the end.
Tip for future students
It goes by quick so cherish every moment, every class, and every lazy day before its over. Don't be afraid to say yes to new opportunties and try new things. These 4 years have been some of the most defining for my personal and professional devlopment and I'm so grateful to everyone and everything that has constantly set me up for success at UMD.
Favorite class
BMGT372: Introduction to Logistics and Supply Chain Management This was my favorite class because it was one of the first classes I took that was specific to my major and I have been able to apply what I learned in my field during my summer internships. I also had a fantastic professor who made the class fun and engaging and is definitley a fantastic resource still for career advice.
Career goals
Eventually I would love to work somewhere in continuous improvement with global supply chains abroad, but more short term I hope to continue to gain leadership skills as an operations manager within Amazon's fullfilment network, where I just interned this summer.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love going outwith my friends but I'm equally as happy to stay in, hangout, and watch some tv.
High school or secondary school
Monroe Township High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is definitely Mckeldin Mall. I love hanging out there on a sunny day, studying on the library balcony overlooking the mall, or just walking through on my way to class. Its the heart of campus and its one of the places that hasn't really changed much despite the endless construction we have.
Meeting point
Frederick Douglass Square on the University of Maryland campus
