Senior Biology(BA) major at the University of Delaware
Hello! My name is Liz and I have a passion for microbiology. While I love the sciences I also enjoy expressing myself creatively through a variety of artistic mediums such as music creation, theatre and drawing/painting. Finding my community at UD felt daunting, but it was with the help of other students and staff members that I began to feel at home here. I benefitted so much from other showing me the ropes on campus and I want to be able to pass that on to others.

Describe your college experience
To be completely honest, I had a rough start at college; between feeling like I was drowning with classwork, stress and missing my family I was wishing for the four years to pass as quickly as possible. But after joining my first club on campus(Dungeons and Dragons) I found a community, gradually I started reaching out to those around me, forming friend groups, joining more clubs and trying so many new and exciting experiences. It happened slowly at first but over time I stopped dreading going back for the next semester and started looking forward to jumping back into the life I had made for myself here. These days I wish time could go by slower!
Tip for future students
Take at least ONE fun class, it can be easy to become buried in homework and having a "fun" class will give you the credits without a crazy amount of classwork(and even if they give homework it's almost always a fun activity that you can do guilt free because it counts as being productive and doing your work). Trust me, it helps a lot to have your day broken up by something relaxing like a yoga class.
Favorite class
Introduction to Performance was an acting class that I had an absolute blast in. Being able to look forward to a class where I was going to learn how to swordfight(theatrically)kept me motivated though all of my labs, exams and projects and I connected with a lot of great people there.
Career goals
I hope to go into a STEM based teaching position, I adore being a TA and sharing knowledge with others and I would love to make a career out of it.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Going to a random college event with my friends(on this campus there are A LOT of events that sound made up and are a blast to attend).
