Texas A&M University
Senior Animal Science major and former Aggie Orientation leader
Hi, my name is Anaya, and I’m a senior here at Texas A&M University! I’m so excited to share my Aggie experience with future students and their families. I’ve been involved on campus through a co-ed service fraternity, served on the orientation team, and I’m about to receive one of the most treasured traditions here—my Aggie Ring. From academics to traditions, I love helping others discover what makes Aggieland so special, and I’d be happy to show you around and answer any questions you have.

Describe your college experience
My college transition was exciting—with a side of “wow, I actually need to learn how to study.” In high school, classes came naturally to me, but college academics challenged me in the best way. It pushed me to figure out how I learn most effectively and taught me valuable study habits that will stick with me long after graduation.
Tip for future students
Always, always pack an umbrella, raincoat, or rain boots. Trust me—Aggieland weather is unpredictable, and you don’t want to be the person sprinting to class in a downpour (been there, done that). Also, give yourself at least 10 extra minutes to get to class. Campus traffic has a way of humbling even the most punctual Aggies
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been KINE 199: Ice Skating. Yes, ice skating! Not only was it a fun GPA booster, but it gave me the chance to try something totally new and take a break from my heavier academic classes. It was the perfect balance of learning, laughing, and occasionally falling on the ice.
Career goals
After graduation, I hope to attend veterinary school, pursuing the small animal track with a specialization in exotics. From there, my goal is to continue on to veterinary anesthesiology school.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is spent with friends. Whether we’re battling it out in Mario Party or enjoying our weekly hangout at Aggie Park, I love being surrounded by people who make me laugh and remind me to enjoy the ride.
