Rising soph in Finance (fun/honest/flexible guides)
Hi! My name is Steven, a rising second-year student at UCLA studying Business Economics. I was born in Qingdao, China and moved to Orange County in 2017 to attend middle and high school. On campus, I am involved in the societies like the Undergraduate Business Society and Bruin Value Investing. Outside of school, I love playing basketball and taking pictures as I travel. I'm big on giving back and certainly wouldn't be where I am today without those who helped me along the way, so I guess this is my way of paying it forward.

Describe your college experience
My experience has been beyond amazing. I have met amazing and a diverse group of friends who are not only career driven but also very fun to be with. The upperclassmen mentorship here has been amazing. Westwood is a fun area to be in as well! Happy to discuss this further.
Tip for future students
Definitely take time to explore what you really want to do. If you already know, chances are you're wrong. Don't be afraid to take classes that you find interesting on campus, even if it might be challenging. In 20 years you will appreciate yourself from doing that, and by then, no one cares about a number on your transcript anymore. Talk to more people, make new friends, take on every opportunity presented to you.
Favorite class
PHILOS 7 Philosophy of the Mind, super interesting stuff on the mind-body problem, computational theory of mind, etc. Though not a philosophy major, diving into the abstract and the connection of historical debates about the mind/intelligence with today's argument about AI was super interesting.
Career goals
A position in finance related to the markets, happy to discuss further.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Westwood is super fun, but also outside of it. My friends have cars, so some times we go to Sawtelle or Century City to try out new food. There's also a lot of cool hikes around for a great night view of the city/downtown. Also, Lakers/Clipprs games are always cool.
