Rising senior at the University of Michigan born and raised in California
Hi! My name is Summer. I am born and raised in California and came to the University of Michigan to study Movement Science, with the hope of furthering my education at Chiropractic School. I am involved in the only professional kinesiology fraternity, Phi Epsilon Kappa, and I am also in a sorority, Kappa Phi Lambda. I have participated in the school's recreational sports teams and as a rising senior I know my way around campus well.

Describe your college experience
I had a tough transition to college coming from California. The weather was a huge change for me and because I was placed in a single room my first year (not by choice) I found it a little hard to meet new people. I learned a lot about how to live by myself, but still wanted to take advantage of my college experience and go out of my comfort zone. I joined different clubs and organizations to find "my people" in a new place. Now, I not only have met so many people that I know will be lifelong friends, but I have also learned a lot about myself, my interests, my goals, and how to take care of myself.
Tip for future students
It gets really cold during the winter. The "work hard, play hard" mentality is very real here. You aren't going to like everyone you meet, but that just means you are one step closer to meeting "your people." Go through every new emotion you feel. I have had more fun in college than I ever thought I would, but I have also been through the most stress and sadness I've ever felt.
Favorite class
Movement Science 320: Motor Control This class is all about what the brain is doing throughout every movement we make throughout our day. It made me think more deeply about each action I take because there are so many underlying signals being taken and sent from the external world to our brain that we do not think about enough.
Career goals
I plan to further my education in grad school at a chiropractic college and become a chiropractor!
