Georgetown University
Public Policy student @ Georgetown
Hi there! My name is Ayesha, and I am a rising sophomore majoring in public policy and minoring in Spanish. I love community service, art, and meeting new people! I've helped many highschoolers figure out if Georgetown would be a good fit for them, and can't wait to help you, too.

Describe your college experience
Flying from Texas to DC definitely started a new period in my life with so many opportunities, especially to meet people from all over the world. With the support of the programs, upperclassmen, and professors, I've been able to learn so much about myself. The friends I've gained motivate me to become a better person, and think critically about my position in the world.
Tip for future students
Enjoying academics is made very easy so long as you pick classes that you'd enjoy and see yourself succeeding in. Most Georgetown professors have decades of tenure in the field they teach, so I highly suggest learning something new! Also, organizational and club culture is huge, so I recommend putting yourself out there! Doing pre-orientations can also develop a support system of friends early on since you'll be introduced to many other freshman the summer before the year begins.
Favorite class
Elements of Political Theory! The discussion sections are small so I quickly became friends with people, bonding over the challenging but short coursework material. The lectures themselves are so unique and make you question global governance systems and what principles they are founded on. Plus, the professor and TAs I had are incredibly qualified, yet super nice!
Career goals
After college, working as a public service lawyer or lobbying agent equitable policy (higher education, housing, and climate change) is my dream.
