Outgoing music major who will find answers to all your questions
Hello! My name is Emma, and I’m attending Coastal Carolina University for a degree in Music Education. I grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia and moved to South Carolina about 8 years ago. I have experience in the northern cold and the southern heat. I chose CCU because of the inclusivity and flexibility offered on campus. Throughout highschool I participated in ensembles and events that were located on campus. Although I am an incoming freshman, I’m very familiar with this campus and am able to assist you with planning routes and exploring teal nation. Go Chants!

Describe your college experience
College has been great. There are many opportunities to meet people and get involved. Getting into the college flow takes some time, but I’ve found it to be easier when I plan out my schedule.
Tip for future students
Definitely remember to block out study time in your schedule! College classes are a lot shorter, so it’s easy to fall behind. Go to tutoring!! Be nice to everyone and stay on top of your classes, even if it feels easy.
Favorite class
Ear Training! It’s interactive, unique, and unlike any class I’ve had before.
Career goals
I hope to become an Elementary School Music Teacher.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I like to make sure my room is tidy and I am prepared for the next school morning. I love a nice shower, clean sheets and some extra sleep!
High school or secondary school
Carolina Forest High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the courtyard in the Edward’s Fine Arts Building. It’s peaceful and a great place for studying. A close runner up would be the bridges overlooking the water. You’re able to feed the turtles and the trees look great when they’re changing colors.
Meeting point
Graham Family Bell Tower on the Coastal Carolina University campus
