Outgoing literature major and music nerd who knows all the best food on campus
Hey there! I'm Kiana, a literature major and music minor in UCSD's Roosevelt college. I'm Californian, born and raised, but La Jolla could not be more different from the Bay Area; my passions are fostered so well here, but I admit, the laidback culture of the beach has gotten to me. When I'm not cramming for exams, I can be found in rehearsals for my theatre company's newest play, binge-watching my newest comfort show, and playing open mics. I like to think my life is the perfect balance of going out and staying in, both literally and figuratively. I'd rather be on the couch than at a party, but I also tend to feel more at home onstage than anywhere else. As your tour guide, I can't wait to show you all my favorite school eateries (we're really spoiled for choice here), the best study spots- on and off-campus- and how to coordinate the optimal beach day. I'd also love to tailor the tour to *your* interests. Don't worry- UCSD truly has something for everyone. See you on campus! Sincerely, Kiana :)

Describe your college experience
While I took a while to adjust to college life, college has been a massively positive experience. I've connected with so many different communities and found some of the closest friends I've ever had. Going to a larger school also makes it easy to try lots of new things and meet people from all walks of life.
Tip for future students
Sign up for everything that piques your interest, even the ones you're unsure about. Mingling and trying new things gives you the best possible chance of finding people you truly click with.
Favorite class
Literature of the British Isles, because the course challenged my writing and reading comprehension skills in ways they hadn't been challenged before. I also adored the subject material.
Career goals
My dream is to be a playwrite/screenwriter or performer of some kind (musician, comedian, actor), but I'd also be happy to work in performing arts education.
Ideal way to spend a free night
- Going out to dinner with a few friends and watching a movie afterward - Watch some live music, a play, or a comedy show
High school or secondary school
Albany High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite place on campus is the gliderport, because I've never seen more beautiful sunsets. It's a great place to take a walk and clear my head.
Meeting point
Triton Fountain on the University of California San Diego campus
