Outgoing Business Management Major thats fun and has an extravagant background

Hi! I’m Christian. I’m a sophomore in pre-business, hoping to study Business Management with an emphasis in international business. I’ve had a pretty wild life, and an even wilder childhood. I grew up in the South, spent three years performing in the circus, and spent two years speaking Spanish while serving as a missionary for my church in Southern California. I love God, my family, and my country. If I’m not studying, you’ll probably find me off on some kind of adventure. Becoming an Eagle Scout gave me a love for the outdoors, serving my church gave me a love for languages, and right now I’m trying to add Arabic to my toolbox. My time in the circus gave me a love for people, climbing, performing, and pretty much anything adventurous. I’m also a master at teaching swing dance, or at least I like to think so. If you want to learn a thing or two, you can usually find me out on the dance floor in the WILK. I’d love to show you what life on campus looks like and some of the excitement that comes with it. Come with questions, bring some curiosity, and we’ll have a great time!

Describe your college experience

My transition was a wild one. I served a two year spanish speaking proselyting mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Riverside, California. I was accepted at Utah State in their Pre-Engineering Program. I was on track to study Bio Medical Engineering. After two years there I transferred down to Brigham Young University. Currently I’m in the Pre Business Program looking at Going into international business with a degree in Business Management.

Tip for future students

I wish I would have known how much control I had over my schedule. Its very easy to feel that every semester is a rat race. Each time you finish an assignment theres another two staring you in the face. However, I took a class at Utah state on the 7 habits of Highly effective people and learned thats not true. If you take accountability for your schedule you can not only get done early, but enable yourself to build on personal qualities, skills, and characteristics you've been looking to improve in your own life.

Favorite class

EXDM 300. The class centers on creating a good life and how to go about it. Its founded in positive psychology and seeks to help its students understand the principals of Creating a good life. I really enjoy this class because they illustrate the joy life brings in such a wonderful way. With being a college student its easy to get overwhelmed with all that is required of me. This class is helping me see that your focus can have a great impact on the potential and success of your life.

Career goals

I hope to go into the Development and Management of the For The Strength of Youth Program Internationally and work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Internationally

Ideal way to spend a free night

If I’m not studying I’m off on some adventure, from Country swing, to game nights, to camping or basketball games. I believe in living a life worth remembering so I try my best to go have fun and get out of my comfort zone
