Outgoing Anthropology major who knows the lay of the land

Hello! I'm Rachel, an anthropology major who loves music. I'm from a small town in Western Massachusetts and I love Washington DC. I love a good boba shop and I also love fashion! I am passionate about the arts and activism, but also GWU's chicken teriyaki bowls. You can probably find me at Square 80 or any of GWU's outdoor seating areas when it's warm out. When it's cold, I'll probably be tucked away in the USC or my dorm. Please come with any questions! I'll be happy to answer all of them truthfully and to the best of my ability.

Clubs, organizations & involvement

I am apart of GWU's District K, a hip-hop/K-pop dance group. I don't have any formal dance experience but I really enjoy dancing, that's why I took a chance and auditioned for District K. I met so many of my friends here, including one of my best friends.

Describe your college experience

As someone from a small town in Western Mass, becoming a resident in the capital of our country has been a huge change for me. I met so many more people, there was so much diversity and communities that I had been previously unaware of. The student groups and orgs at school are all so cool and I love being apart of the GWU community.

Tip for future students

Popularity is not a thing in college. Just enjoy yourself, don't compare yourself to others because for many, college is the first time they see the real world.

Favorite class

My Existentialism class. The readings and discussions were unlike any other discussions I had up until that point.

Career goals

I am undecided for my future after college, but I hope to take some time to travel after graduation and possibly move to another country for work.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I'd call over a friend or two, we would walk to the Whole Foods on Foggy Bottom and buy ingredients for dinner. Then walk back to mine and make dinner, play some music and hang out in my dorm.

High school or secondary school

Longmeadow High School

Favorite spot on campus

I love sitting on the hammocks near Gelman Library and Square 80. It's great that GWU has these outdoors spaces where students can sit and meet and do their work.

Meeting point

Kogan Plaza Fountain on the George Washington University campus
