Outgoing accounting/finance major who loves Georgia and knows his way around
Hello! My name is William Ellis and I am a freshman Accounting/Finance major. I’ve lived in 5 different states throughout my life, so being new to an area wasn’t something new to me. I went to high school in Coppell, Texas, and moved to Georgia for college. I’ve only been here for a short while, but this place has already turned into my home. I was born and raised a dawgs fan, and now I’m here and I wouldn’t want it any other way! You’ll usually catch me hitting a workout or getting some hooping runs in at Ramsey, knocking out some homework at the MLC (I got a niche sport — I’ll show you), or hanging out with my buddies at my ministries and clubs. Athens is such an amazing campus and has so much to offer for everyone, no matter what hobbies you may have. I’d love to show you all of the niche places to be and the best dining halls (I have my list), and give you my honest take on how amazing life here actually is. Come with all of your questions — the more the better.

Describe your college experience
I came from Coppell, Texas, so I completely restarted this year when I arrived on campus. I have gotten involved with several different organizations and ministries, and have met so many amazing people already just 2 weeks into college.
Tip for future students
I wish I knew more about what’s clubs and organizations I wanted to join before arriving at UGA. Welcome week is loaded with 5+ events on your calendar each day and you have to decide which to hey involved with, and I still even missed some that I didn’t even know about and would’ve loved to get involved with. Also, several club applications are due writhing the first couple of weeks, so having a better knowledge of what I wanted to get involved with would’ve been very useful.
Favorite class
Acct 2101, I am currently an accounting major and have learned a lot by taking this class. It is usually taken by sophomore’s, but I’m taking it right now as a freshman and it has been very interesting and taught me a lot about accounting and finances.
Career goals
My goal is to become a Personal Financial Advisor and help families with their finances and grow a connection personally with them as well.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Hang out with my friends and go get some food, probably Waffle House, and just have a good time hanging out and watching college football.
High school or secondary school
Coppell High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite place on campus is Sanford Stadium. I’m a huge Dawgs fan and college football guy and have been to over a dozen games in Sanford in my life and even to the 2017 SEC and National Championship games. The student section is what I’m most looking forward to and getting to see the Dawgs in person every home game.
