Neuroscience major who loves sports, traveling, and all things BYU!

Hii I’m Alyssa, a junior in the neuroscience program. I’m from Wyoming (yes people actually live there) and absolutely love it here at BYU! I served a mission in Uruguay and am a huge sports fan, traveler, and love being outside! I came to BYU as a freshman not knowing anyone, but I quickly was able to find great friends and get involved with the things on campus. I’ve had some super great experiences here and I’m excited to show you around some of the places that have made campus feel like home to me. I’m also always happy to give recommendations-whether that’s about classes, campus spots, food, or where to go when you need a break from studying. My goal is to make your tour feel less like a lecture and more like you’re walking around campus with a friend who happens to know where things are.

Describe your college experience

I came to Provo without any friends from my hometown and I was a little worried. I was surprised at how well I was received, how friendly everyone was and how easy it was to get involved in things! I made so many great friends and love the social atmosphere here at BYU.

Tip for future students

Be bold!! It’s scary going into this next part of life but everyone is in the same boat. There are so many people that you will meet so don’t be shy!

Favorite class

Anatomy, working with real cadavers! The human body is an amazing creation and I loved learning about it and it’s divinity as well.

Career goals

I want to graduate with my neuroscience degree and then go into nuclear medicine or sonography technician school.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Something outside! A hike or playing sports with my friends then getting a sweet treat and watching a movie to end the night.

High school or secondary school

Cheyenne Central High School

Favorite spot on campus

Library! It’s a great place to study.

Meeting point

Joseph F. Smith Building Courtyard on the Brigham Young University campus
