Hi! I’m Brady, a senior here at NC State majoring in Industrial Design with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. I’ve been a player and officer on the Men’s Club Volleyball team for four years, and I also work with the women’s D1 volleyball team as a manager, practice player, and graphic designer. On top of that, I serve as a student ambassador for the College of Design, which means I love sharing my experience and helping others get excited about all that NC State has to offer!

Describe your college experience

When I first came to college as an out of state student, I didn’t know anyone and as an introvert that was definitely intimidating. But it also pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. I joined clubs, kept playing the sport I love through volleyball, and slowly started building connections. Some of my closest friendships and favorite college memories have come from the teams and activities I got involved in. It really showed me how putting yourself out there, even just a little, can lead to something great.

Tip for future students

Don’t be afraid to get involved early, even if it’s out of your comfort zone. I wish I had known how many opportunities there are to meet people and try new things here. Whether it’s a club, intramural sport, or just going to events, you never know what you’ll end up loving or who you’ll meet. College really is what you make of it!

Favorite class

My favorite class has been the two I took when I studied abroad in Prague last summer. I took a business in context course where we created school furniture for Multip, a design firm who specializes in that area of furniture. As well as a furniture design course where we were tasked to create a design for a chair that when you sat on it your feet no longer touched the ground! Those were both my first time creating any sort of furniture, so it was an amazing experience!

Career goals

I'd love to work at a design firm that has their own in-house studio where I can be creative and build various products, etc!

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to stay in and hang out with friends whether it be watching sports or going to a bar​/​restaurant to watch a game and get a bite to eat!
