I am currently a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Geography. On campus, I am actively involved in several organizations. As a University Ambassador, I provide weekly tours to prospective students, sharing up-to-date information about campus life and academics, a role I have proudly held for the past four years. I also serve as a Resident Assistant, mentoring students and supporting their growth in our campus community. In addition, I am a member of the Association of African American Students and the National Association of Black Journalists, and I contribute to our student broadcasting network.

Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been incredibly positive, and my experience at University of South Carolina has exceeded my expectations. From the start, I’ve taken advantage of the many academic resources available, which have helped me succeed in my classes. The School of Journalism and Mass Communications has played a major role in my growth, providing me with internships and job opportunities that support my career goals. Through campus organizations, I’ve built meaningful friendships, including meeting my best friend, and made unforgettable memories cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Living in Columbia has also enriched my experience, from volunteering and exploring local events to trying new restaurants. Overall, USC has given me strong academic support, career opportunities, and lasting memories.

Tip for future students

Get involved and say yes to every opportunities your university provide. You never know the memories your gonna make and the door that will be open if you just said yes.

Favorite class

My favorite class was during my senior semester in Carolina News. In this course, I was fully immersed in a real newsroom environment, rotating through different roles each day and getting hands-on experience in every position multiple times. I loved this class because it gave me a full understanding of how a newsroom operates while helping me discover strengths and skills I didn’t even realize I had. It also allowed me to strengthen my resume and build my reel, which has been incredibly valuable as I pursue future job opportunities.

Career goals

After college, I hope to begin my career as a meteorologist at a news station.

Ideal way to spend a free night

On a free night you can find me hanging out with my friends, chatting and cooking dinner.
