Describe your college experience
As with most transfer students to UCSD, the inital transition into the quarter system and adjusting to the new norms of a rigorous university was a tidbit rough. However, once understanding the mechanics of the quarter system and how to interact with professors planning and navigating the UCSD landscape became significantly easier. UCSD is truly and amazing school and offers so much, you just have to put yourself out there a little bit more than other schools.
Tip for future students
The doors may be open and bountiful, but they still require you to walk through them. Put yourself out there; you will get so much more out of your time here at UCSD.
Favorite class
My favorite class would have to be BIMM 172 (Genome Sciences), hands down! This is mainly due to two reasons: [1] it's currently a hot topic, and [2] in this class we really dive into the different methods and theories we've learned about in our other biology courses and how they merge in today's biological research landscape.
Career goals
I hope to apply to a MD program or MD/PhD this following year once I wrap up my BS/MS pogram here!
Ideal way to spend a free night
Really depends on what is on the books for the following day, but going out with friends, trying a new dinner recipe, or may finally getting to that book I've been meaning to start.
High school or secondary school
Unviersity City High School
Previous college
San Diego Mesa Community College
Favorite spot on campus
Geisel Library! It's super close to the student commons and Target, perfect for grabbing a snack or coffee while studying. The library is also pretty central, so it's not too far from most lecture halls, making it an ideal spot to kill time between classes.
Meeting point
Triton Fountain on the University of California San Diego campus
