Describe your college experience
My transition and experience into college has been one of fast-paced learning and high engagement with other students on campus. My transition was a little rocky at the start due to my high school level studying skill and expectations for classwork. However, after the first exams I was able to quickly change up my tactics, go to tutoring, and start asking for help which assisted me in achieving much higher scores during midterms. When the school year officially started, I began hanging out with the friends that I had made while attending The Ohio State University Marching Band Summer Session and with the organizations that I joined. The social aspects of college have not been excessively challenging for me and have lead to a lot of personal growth and creating lifelong friends.
Tip for future students
My tip for future students is to get involved with people on campus as soon as they can! Going to events, student involvement fairs, and attending parties with friends. The Ohio State University is only as big as one wants to make it, so attending events is a way to put yourself out there and make a lot of friends along the way. Attending college is one of the biggest opportunities in a young person's life to make meaningful lifelong connections that cultivate meaningful and professional relationships.
Favorite class
My favorite class is my Introduction to the New Testament course I'm taking this semester. This course combines my affinity for historical knowledge with my Christian faith into a class which gives me more understanding into the historical events of the New Testament. In this class, I have made many great friends in which we discuss in deep conversation discussing authenticity, connections to faith, and context for the source material with our own theories and thoughts as to why events happened.
Career goals
After college, I look to use my degree to start my career in the more business oriented side of agricultural pursuits. I wish to use the connections I've made in college and at home to attain a job that will help me recover from the possibility of student loans and begin supporting a family. After making a name for myself and experiencing the world, I wish to return home to my family farm one day to continue agricultural endeavors there alongside my family to continue our legacy of integrity in progressive agriculture.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night during college is to text my friends and gauge if they'd like to do something. We usually end up taking long walks around university grounds before heading over to Buckeye Donuts on Lane Avenue for a refreshing drink and a donut. We will watch people go up and down the sidewalk, cross back over onto campus, and split up for the evening to attend to our own personal plans that we have for the rest of the night.
