Describe your college experience

Transitioning to Brown was exciting. Coming from a structured college environment, adjusting to the Open Curriculum took some time, but it also became one of my favorite parts of Brown. I’ve been able to explore classes across departments, which helped me discover interests I didn’t know I had. The community here is intellectually curious but also collaborative, not competitive, which made it easier to find support and make friends. I’ve grown a lot, academically and personally, and I’ve learned that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

Tip for future students

Take full advantage of the Open Curriculum! It gives you incredible freedom to explore different disciplines, so don’t feel pressured to have everything figured out right away. Also, don’t underestimate the value of shopping period—go to as many classes as you can before finalizing your schedule. Lastly, be proactive about seeking out resources (like tutoring, career services, and office hours)—they're there for you, and they really help.
