Junior at Brown University Studying History and Ethnic Studies
Hi! My name is Ellanora and I am a Junior at Brown. I'm a Junior studying History and Ethnic Studies, but have also taken classes in STEM departments and across the humanities. I have worked with professors on research outside of class and am involved in student theater and Fashion@Brown. I have really enjoyed my time here and would be happy to talk about whatever you're most interested in!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was bumpy, like everyone's is and I am slow to make friends, but through clubs and supportive faculty I've found my place socially and academically. Brown is full of awesome people and has really encouraged me to push myself and explore.
Tip for future students
Be ready to push yourself. The only way to find what works is to try a bunch of different things which can be a lot of work, but pays off. The clubs that have made me the best friends and the classes that have fostered the best connections with professors weren't necessarily the ones I expected to take.
Favorite class
A Textile History of Atlantic Slavery, a Freshman seminar taught by Professor Seth Rockman, introduced me to fascinating material that has supplemented my research since then. The class also taught me how to write an excellent academic paper and prepared me to engage in seminar-style classes which are really popular here at Brown.
Career goals
I hope to continue within academia and get a PhD in History, from there I either want to become faculty at a University or work in museum arts and curation.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Board game nights with friends as well as long walks to Prospect Terrace and along the river (when the weather allows) have kept me going so far!
