International student passionate about helping future Commodores find their plac
Hi! I'm Amy, a sophomore majoring in Economics and Human & Organizational Development (HOD). Coming to Vanderbilt has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. As an international student from Shenzhen, China, I was nervous about finding my place, but I quickly found an amazing community of friends, mentors, and professors who made Vanderbilt feel like home. One thing I love most about Vanderbilt is how supportive everyone is. During investment banking recruiting this year, classmates shared interview resources, practiced together, and celebrated each other's successes. Whether you're interested in finance, medicine, consulting, research, or anything else, Vanderbilt offers incredible opportunities and communities that help you grow. I'd love to share my experience and help you discover what makes Vanderbilt so special!

Describe your college experience
It's honestly the best decision I've ever made. I found my community, and i feel so supported at Vandy. Since joining i find friends who inspire me to be a better person day by day, and Vandy is where i love to call home.
Tip for future students
Say yes to opportunities, even if they feel intimidating. Attend office hours, join clubs that genuinely interest you, and don't be afraid to reach out to professors, alumni, or older students, they're much more willing to help than you might expect.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Anthropology because it completely changed the way I see the world. Rather than memorizing facts, we explored why people think, behave, and build communities differently across cultures. As an international student, I found it especially meaningful because it helped me better understand both my own background and the diverse perspectives of those around me. It's a class that has made me more curious, empathetic, and thoughtful in everyday life.
Career goals
I'm doing investment banking at Nomura in NY after college.
