I’m a sophomore with a major in psychology and a minor in neuroscience.
Hi! I'm Cassie, a psychology major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I'm originally from Canada and moved to Texas before coming to UTK, so I understand what it's like to be new to a place and figure everything out. I'm involved in Greek life and really enjoy meeting new people. I also love finding new spots in Knoxville and around campus. Whether you have questions about UTK, student life, housing, Greek life, or local restaurants and activities, I'd love to help make your visit enjoyable and help be a convincing factor of why UT is the place for you.

Describe your college experience
As an out of state student, I was nervous to come in from so far away and adjust to new surroundings. I had my best friend from high school as a roommate which was a big factor in getting me to accustomed to the school. I quickly made a group of best friends in my sorority as well as on my floor in my dorm. There’s no shortage of people like you at the University of Tennessee. In in the first few weeks, there’s something every day to help you get adjusted and introduce you to new faces. I could not have picked a better school for myself and I honestly now dread going home for breaks because it means I have to leave the school and people that I love so much. I have tremendously academically and personally because of UT.
Tip for future students
My tip for incoming students would be don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Even if it seems like people already have found friends, everybody is looking to meet people. If you see someone in passing and see them again, say hi, Introduce yourself.
Favorite class
My favorire class this year has been psychology. My professor was really good at engaging with the students and helping us prepare for exams. The material was also very interesting
Career goals
After college, I hope to begin graduate school and build a career working with children in the field of psychology. I'm especially interested in neuropsychology and understanding how brain development influences behavior, learning, and mental health. My goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families through research and clinical work.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night would be having dinner with my friends, all getting ready together while listening to music and then walking downtown for ice cream.
