Hi! My name is Taylin Backus! I am a Freshman at BYU and I am from Gilbert Arizona. I moved here knowing two people and every single day I have grown to love BYU more and more! Describe your college experience

I for sure had a hard transition socially, from being a very well known popular high schooler to a girl no one had known, I really struggled! As the weeks have gone by, every single day gets better and with the diversity of BYU I get to meet and make new friends every day! As far as classes go, I love my professors and the classes I've taken. I love how Christ centered BYU is, how each class starts with a hymn and a prayer, and how I feel like I am growing closer to my Heavenly Father every single day!

Tip for future students

One thing I have learned here is to be bold!!!! I have been so much happier since I've started to put myself out there and not be shy or embarassed. College is so much more fun when you are trying new things and going out instead of being cooped up in your room!

Favorite class

I have a business class named Leading With Purpose! I love what the course has taught me and how my Professor treats me with love and actually sees me.

Career goals

I hope to have a loving husband and a happy family, and I hope to run a cosmetology salon!

Ideal way to spend a free night

My perfect free night would probably be to go with a big group of friends and get ice cream and then either go bowling or to the movies!

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is the Tanner Building! I have my business classes and my Sacramnet is held there, but I love the architecture of the building and I just think it is so beautiful. I love to study there and meet new people every single day!
