Describe your college experience
My transition into college was definitely a learning experience at the start. I did the IB (International Baccalaureate) program in high school which I think really set me up for success academics wise. However, there is always going to be an adjustment period living by myself for the first time, trying to balance my academics, extracurriculars, and social life all at once was definitely something everyone experienced and I personally knew how much time I could meaningfully contribute to an activity I was doing which allowed me to make intentional time for what I wanted to do.
Tip for future students
Something that I wish I had known before starting school was that everyone is in the same boat and you might want to compare yourself to others but college is your own journey for you to explore! I also really really recommend getting involved as soon as possible whether it be clubs, sports, greek life, etc, you should find people to talk to and network, it opens a lot of opportunities for you!
Favorite class
My favorite class I've taken is BIPN 145 which is Neurobiology Laboratory. We got to work on so many different models such as flies, leech cells, earthworms and try out different lab techniques like microscopy, EEG, and EMG! I also love BIPN 152 which is Healthy and Diseased Brain! This class talks about the mechanisms behind neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases, something I'm very passionate about!
Career goals
I hope to either go into medical school or get into a PhD or MD/PhD program!
