University of Maryland
Hi! I’m a senior double majoring in Computer Science and Finance at UMD.
When I first started college, I was really shy and unsure of how to put myself out there. Over time, I found my place by getting involved in clubs, campus activities, and internships which helped me come out of my shell and feel truly at home here. Now, I love sharing that experience with others — especially students who might feel nervous or unsure like I once did. If you’re curious about student life, academics, or what it’s like to balance a double major, I’d love to show you around and answer any questions. UMD has been a big part of my personal growth, and I’m excited to help you imagine your own journey here.

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was definitely a period of growth. Coming into UMD, I was excited but also pretty nervous — I was shy and didn’t know many people. At first, it felt overwhelming trying to find my place on such a big campus. But over time, I started stepping outside my comfort zone. I joined a few clubs, pushed myself to talk to classmates, and slowly got more involved. That made a huge difference — I built friendships, found mentors, and started to feel more confident. Now, looking back, I’m proud of how much I’ve grown both socially and academically, and I love being able to support new students as they go through their own transitions.
Tip for future students
I advise students to become heavily integrated into at least one career related club and to force themselves out of their shell during their freshmen year.
Favorite class
I enjoyed my very first coding class, object oriented programming 1 because I enjoyed the challenge of learning how to code for the very first time.
Career goals
I plan on becoming a software engineer after college.
