Hey there! I’m a sophomore at Stanford University studying International Relations and a variety of foreign languages. Through Stanford, I’ve made lifelong friends and gained professional experiences around the world, from working at a North Korea news company to being on the Dragonboat rowing team. I’m excited to share what I love most about Stanford with you. I also work as a college counselor, so I’d be happy to offer tips and tricks to help you tailor your application specifically for Stanford!

Describe your college experience

Coming to Stanford, I was excited—but also nervous—about how I’d find my place among such a diverse group of people. Over time, I’ve learned how to balance the tech-driven energy here with my love for the humanities, and that mix has been one of the best parts of my experience. I’ve built close relationships with professors, chatted with an admissions officer over coffee, and been constantly supported by students who genuinely want to help each other grow. If you're curious about navigating both the academic and personal side of Stanford, I’d love to share more!

Tip for future students

Your major will change—and at Stanford, that’s not just okay, it’s easy and encouraged. Don’t be afraid to explore! Also: FloMo has the best dining hall ice cream I’ve ever tasted—hands down. But most of all, prepare to be surprised by how much you’ll grow when you let curiosity (and good people) guide you.

Favorite class

One of my favorite classes was a seminar on K-pop—not just as music, but as a lens into Korea’s political, social, and economic history. We explored everything from gender norms in idol culture to the state's role in promoting soft power. It was the first time I saw something I loved personally being taken seriously in an academic setting! And all for credit towards my major!

Career goals

After college, I hope to become a diplomat. I’ve always loved immersing myself in new cultures and connecting with people across borders. Traveling the world while contributing to meaningful global change is the kind of impact I dream of making—and I know that every experience I’ve had at Stanford is helping me build toward that.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night? Grabbing a matcha from Stanford’s café in the Data Science building, then heading out to sit with friends under the glow of the palm trees. There’s something about the clean air, the breeze, and good conversation that makes campus feel like home!
