Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college was a significant step for me, particularly in moving away from home and adjusting to a new environment. My first year was full of growth. I learned how to balance academics, social life, and independence. Living in Crosby my freshman year helped me build strong connections, and joining Greek life and other campus organizations made it easier to feel like part of a community. I’ve had the opportunity to explore my interests, challenge myself academically, and meet people from diverse backgrounds. I wouldn't change a thing!

Tip for future students

One tip I’d give future students is to get involved early. Whether it’s joining a club, going to campus events, or just introducing yourself to people in your dorm, putting yourself out there makes a huge difference. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or use campus resources; everyone’s here to help you succeed. I also wish I’d realized sooner how important time management is. College comes with a lot of freedom, but staying organized can help keep stress low and make room for more fun. Another tip: it truly doesn’t matter what dorm you live in; you’ll find your people no matter where you go to bed at night.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been Speech 105: Business and Professional Speech. It was very hands-on and involved frequent in-class presentations, which helped me grow more confident as a speaker. I enjoyed collaborating with both my professor and classmates. Because of my performance, I was honored to be nominated by my professor for the JoAnn Edwards Public Speaking Competition. This class taught me valuable skills in public speaking and highlighted the importance of engaging with others in a professional setting.

Career goals

After college, I hope to work in the tech industry, combining my background in computer science and intelligence, and security studies. I’m especially interested in roles that involve cybersecurity, software development, or data analysis. Long-term, I’d love to work internationally and be part of projects that use technology to solve real-world problems and make an impact!!

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with friends! Either getting dressed up to grab dinner and go somewhere fun, or staying in with good food and music. I also love a spontaneous late-night drive or just relaxing with a good movie or show. All of my best friends live in the same apartment community as me, so there is never a dull moment!
