University of Georgia
Grey Cohen - UGA Senior who is eager to assist!
I have been a student at the university studying Anthropology, Comparative Literature, and Archaeology. I have taken classes that have been located across the multiple areas of campus in addition to personally living on campus for my first three years. I have a passion for encouraging the pursuit of a higher education, and want to assist potential students at figuring out if UGA is the best place for them to do just that!

Describe your college experience
I found that I struggled my freshman year, although I believe that is a common experience when a kid moves away from home for the first time. I entered unsure of whether or not college was the right pursuit for me but quickly found that it was, especially since both the university and the town has so much to do and so many options to explore. I have enjoyed building a community of peers that encourage my educational and personal pursuits. I have had a great experience so far, particularly within my major course work.
Tip for future students
- There are so many activities to do, especially for freshmen, and they're a great (and free) way to meet new people and explore extracurricular opportunities. Try to attend any that seem interesting to you. - It can feel nerve-wracking to be in a new environment but it doesn't actually have to be that scary if you focus on what you truly want for yourself. - It's okay to mess up and make mistakes. Literally everyone makes them. Give yourself grace as you go through transitional periods of your life (like this one), I certainly wish I had known that sooner.
Favorite class
My favorite class has probably been Aztecs and Maya. Not only was the material itself super interesting but the professor (Dr. Jason Gonzalez) was fun and incorporated non-traditional coursework. It was nice to not just be lectured to, instead we could discuss the topics at hand, present topics of our choosing, and we even did a historical roleplay game that was beyond fun to participate in.
Career goals
I hope to take a gap year and gain valuable work experience, preferably in my field. After that, I plan to go back to school for my masters.
Ideal way to spend a free night
It depends what mood I'm in! I enjoy the Athens music scene so attending shows is always a good time, but I also often enjoy spending the night in and cooking with friends.
