Fun-seeking Pre-Business Major who knows all the best spots on campus!

Hey my name is Drew! I am a sophomore at BYU heading for a Business Management Major. At the moment I am Pre-Business and I absolutely love BYU and its campus. I am a proud Iowan (don't worry, no one else has been there either), but I'm starting to get used to Utah. Most of my free time I either spend playing basketball and other sports, walking or hiking all over the place, or watching Dancing with the Stars with my fiancé. I served a mission in Albania, and I love spending time with my mission buddies who I see all over campus. I love the spiritual aspect of life at BYU, and you won't ever see me miss a BYU devotional on Tuesdays. I like to think I know all the best spots on campus to study, to people watch, to microwave your meal prep, or just to relax for a while. I like meeting new people, and hopefully you can help me learn to love it! I'm excited to meet you and get you started on your path to being a Cougar!

Describe your college experience

I came to BYU for the first time last January after my mission and I love it. I know for a fact it is exactly where I am meant to be. I've met some of my best friends of my life in my classes, there's so so so many fun things to do in and around campus, and the combined academic+spiritual environment is like nothing I've ever experienced before. I had some worries coming into it because of what I had heard about the culture at BYU, but I have realized that you get out of it what you put in, so bring a good attitude and you'll enjoy every second of it!

Tip for future students

Make sure to practice good time management. It'll save your life. Things can pile up fast at college and you'll have to be smart about how you use your time if you want to keep up with classes, homework, hanging out with friends, dating, and of course, your faith and testimony.

Favorite class

Foundations of the Restoration (REL C 225) with Brother Rob Eaton. I absolutely loved this class, and all of my religion classes so far actually. This one was especially awesome for me mostly because of the professor, he was super knowledgeable, approachable, and spiritual. My testimony grew throughout the semester, I learned a lot of new things, and it was an awesome way to relax, calm down, and feel the Spirit in the middle of a busy school day.

Career goals

I hope to one day start my own business! I don't know what kind of business yet but that's why I'm here!

Ideal way to spend a free night

Going to a BYU game (football, basketball, volleyball, whatever) or hitting up one of the many hot tubs in Provo with my friends.

High school or secondary school

Urbandale High School

Favorite spot on campus

Other than Lavell Edwards Stadium, I love walking the trails along the hill on the southwest side of campus.

Meeting point

Joseph F. Smith Building Courtyard on the Brigham Young University campus
