Hi! I'm Fatemeh, a junior psychology major who is trying to maintain good study habits. Admittedly, it is easier said than done, but I've seen the impact it can have on course satisfaction, forming good connections with professors, and grades. In between classes, you'll find me at the psyc lounge studying or connecting with other psyc majors, or at STAMP getting a snack (and probably another green tea from Panera). In the afternoons, I go to Eppley or the Public Health Building to get a quick workout in, or I'll be at the Engineering building studying with friends. Towards evening time, I'll usually be attending club events or meetings! I'm really passionate about students finding their place and people at UMD. I can show you my favorite study spots, the best Nashville chicken sandwich place on campus, and where to watch a beautiful sunset. I'm happy to help students get a good idea of what life at UMD looks like so they can make the best decision for where to attend college! Describe your college experience

My first semester was definitely difficult. UMD has a big campus and student body, making it hard to make connections and find friends, especially as a commuter. But as I started finding cultural groups and clubs, it became easier to adjust and find my place. I came into UMD as Undecided, and once I picked my major (Psychology), I've found many opportunities to work in labs, volunteer for organizations, and gain clinical experience. So far, I've really enjoyed the classes and professors at UMD. The University amenities: the gym, athletic groups, device rentals, shuttle service, free access to research articles and softwares, etc., are very convenient.

Tip for future students

Knowing what you want to study and do as a career is helpful in planning your time at college.

Favorite class

Neur200 was probably my favorite class so far. It was so interesting to learn about the workings of the brain and how mental health issues can appear in specific parts of the brain.
