Friendly engineering major who knows his way around campus

Hi, my name is Dean and I am currently a freshman on the engineering track. I plan on doing civil engineering once I select my concentration at the end of this school year. I haven't been here for much time, but I can tell you that this place already feels like home. I'm really into sports so often times you will find me at one of the rec centers working out, playing basketball, or even versing my friend in ping pong. If I'm not there, then I'm probably eating at one of the dining halls. They have all sorts of foods to choose from, and even on-campus restaurants! There is so much to do at Rutgers that it would be impossible to list them all out in one sitting. However, I'd love to show you as much as I can on a tour. I'll introduce you to your classes, the sport arenas, study spots, and present to you the life of a Rutgers student! If you'd like to know, then prepare for an adventure and come with questions!

Describe your college experience

So far my college experience has been very great. I've enjoyed dorming and have met some wonderful people. I've also joined some clubs and sports as well, all of which are very exciting ways to fill my free time up.

Tip for future students

One tip that I have for students is not to worry about feeling out of place in college. There are so many different options to choose from that every single interest and personality can find something they enjoy. Through that they will then be able to find like minded people, which is something that I was scared wouldn't happen. However, upon looking at the clubs and sports, I realized that there were actually too many interests to choose from, which made me more confident that I will be able to find new people and hobbies that I enjoy.

Favorite class

ID3EA has been my favorite class so far because it is giving me insight and knowledge on the field I chose. I also enjoy the work that we do in the class and meeting new people on the same path as me.

Career goals

After college I hope to land an engineering job that I enjoy, and then of course start a family. However, I also want to live my life too so I hope that I am able to travel the world and experience things that ordinary life doesn't provide.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would likely spend a free night by meeting up with some friends and going to play some sports with them. Then we would probably get food together and chill in someone's house/dorm. If there is a sports event on we would also watch that together.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is probably the College Ave Recreation Center because I enjoy playing sports and the rec center has lots of options to choose from, including combat sports, basketball, and even rock climbing.
