Excited and engaged nursing major who loves being involved in and off campus

Hi! I’m Chad, a nursing student at BYU who loves staying active, meeting new people, and being involved in just about any event I can find—especially sporting events. I’m excited to share what I love about BYU while getting to know each person I meet along the way. I also understand that starting college can feel exciting, overwhelming, and maybe a little stressful, and I hope to be someone who can relate to that experience and help make your BYU adventure feel a little more exciting and a lot less intimidating!

Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college was a lot of fun. It has been great meeting people from all over and working to understand different life perspectives. But it also came with a lot of stress. Classes were a little harder and my schedule was now all on me. Learning how to make a time for the fun things in life and time for my classes and studies was important to my success

Tip for future students

The one piece of advice I would give is to show up. Try to be present for as many things as your schedule allows. You never know who you will meet, what opportunities will appear, and what good experiences you can have if you never show up. So say yes to things and then show up

Favorite class

Sports nutrition. It was my favorite because it helped me as an athlete learn how to take my health and sport to the next level through something as simple as nutrition. I was able to instantly apply what I was learning and see results as I improved in my sport

Career goals

After graduating with my bachelors in nursing I would like to work in an ICU for 2 years to get valuable hands on experience as a nurse, and then I would like to go back to school to become a CRNA.

Ideal way to spend a free night

If I don’t have any homework, my ideal night would be hanging out with a small group of friends, 8-12 people, playing games, or chatting. It would be even better if we had some sort of food or treat that we made along with our game night.

Favorite spot on campus

The Richard’s building. It has it all. I go there often to play basketball as well as study and work on homework. I like being in an environment of people moving around and so the Richard’s building gives me just that. A mix of academics and athletics
