Dedicated business-econ major who knows a lot about the best clubs and academics
Hi everyone, my name is Ayaan Patel, and I am a passionate UCLA student majoring in Business Economics. My interest in the field started early through college coursework, independent research, and shadowing working economists, which seamlessly prepared me for UCLA's academic environment. Having navigated the fast-paced quarter system, discussion sections, and course planning firsthand, I have a solid, practical understanding of how academics work here and how to succeed. Beyond the classroom, I bring a rich background in leadership and involvement, from serving as Student Forum President to playing varsity baseball and stage managing theater productions. That diverse background gives me a great perspective on campus life, along with an extensive knowledge of UCLA’s hundreds of student clubs and organizations. Whether you are curious about pre-professional business groups, club sports, student life, or football, I can easily guide you on how to find your niche. Outside of school and student activities, I am an avid skier who loves hitting the slopes whenever I get the chance to escape to the mountains. I am also an absolute fanatic when it comes to UCLA’s dining halls, which are famous for having the best college food in the entire nation. From poke bowls at Rendezvous to fresh artisan meals at Epicuria, I will happily point out all the best food spots on campus during our walk. Having spent years guiding younger students as a LinkCrew mentor and camp counselor, I genuinely enjoy helping prospective applicants navigate their college decisions. I cannot wait to show you around campus, answer all of your questions, and welcome you to UCLA!

Describe your college experience
So far, my transition to college has been very smooth. I'm a very fast learner and its not taking me long to understand how to make the most of my time here while still having a lot of fun. Work's important, but without parties and friends it becomes unbearable.
Tip for future students
I wish I had known more about how organizations work on campus, and about my specific class requirements for graduating within my two majors.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been my cluster 70A evolution of the cosmos and humans! For one thing, it knocks out all of my science GEs and is very interesting cause I get to analyze scientific papers and such.
Career goals
I hope to working in Global Private Consulting or International Relations.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a night would be to hang out with friends and run a game of poker, or going to the concert of an artist who I love.
High school or secondary school
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is this little room in Kerckhoff hall that is the perfect place to study and read or nap all by myself. It's great for locking in, and I can always bring a friend if need be.
Meeting point
Bruin Statue on the University of California Los Angeles campus
