Creative and outgoing student who is always ready for an adventure!

Hi! I’m Anna, a Visual Arts student at UC San Diego with a huge love for creativity, travel, and the outdoors. When I’m not painting or designing, you can usually find me surfing, exploring somewhere new, or spending time with friends. I’m outgoing, easygoing, and love meeting new people and experiencing new places! Coming from out of state, I was scared to move across the country and go to school at UCSD, but I can genuinely say it has been the best decision of my life. UCSD is a school like no other and truly has something for everyone. I could not be more happy to show you around this incredible campus, and help you explore a potential new home.

Describe your college experience

I'm from New York, and UCSD was never a school I seriously considered until I got in. Once I decided to make the move across the country, I was beyond terrified and did not know a single person there. After my first year, I can confidently say that UCSD is the perfect place for me and I could not be happier. It's hard to be sad when you're in La Jolla, it's kind of like I'm living a dream.

Tip for future students

I would say that you should be okay with getting out of your comfort zone. I am someone who was absolutely terrified of college; it was hard at first, but once I got comfortable with the feeling of being uncomfortable, my whole perspective changed. I was trying things I had never done before and completely fell in love with the school.

Favorite class

My favorite class was my painting and drawing class that I took in the fall of freshman year, because it was my first college level art class. It exposed me to a whole new level of art and opened my eyes to so many unique techniques and styles. The class made me incredibly excited to continue my art degree at UCSD.

Career goals

I plan to graduate in three years and get my Master of Fine Arts at a university in Europe. I want to experience life in a completely different part of the world and see as much as possible. I don't have it all planned out yet, but I would love to pursue a career in creative marketing.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night would be going down to Black's Beach with my surfboard and catching a peaceful sunset surf session. Growing up on the East Coast, I have such an appreciation for the natural beauty of San Diego, and I absolutely love to surf as much as I can. There are not many better ways to spend an evening than surfing with your friends.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is the Marshall Grass Lawn because it is always bustling with students, such a perfect center of campus. Since the lawn opened this past spring, it has brought a new sense of community to the school, and it is the perfect spot to study, play some spike ball, or soak up the beautiful San Diego sun and ocean views.
