Clubs, organizations & involvement

The College of Charleston has many extracurricular clubs and activities to fit your hobbies and interests. I have continued to pursue athletics, such as swimming, through the College of Charleston Club Swim Team. Living near the beach has also allowed me to explore new hobbies through our surf and watersports clubs. Academically, I am a Women in Business Club member and have attended various business school meetings. Lastly, CofC Chargg has been one of my favorites, where we try different workout places around the peninsula weekly.

Describe your college experience

As an out-of-state student, I was nervous about moving far from home, but the College of Charleston has made the process stress-free. Small class sizes make courses feel personalized and allow students to form connections with other students and professors quickly. The campus is next to King Street, so there are endless shops, restaurants, and activities to discover. The school also provides hundreds of clubs and outlets where students can get free tutoring and academic help. Lastly, there are three different beaches about twenty minutes away that are popular among students.

Tip for future students

Before attending the College of Charleston, I recommend knowing what you would like to major in. This will make course selection easier and give you a good idea about clubs and activities to join based on your academic goals.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been my Business First Year Seminar. Every freshman must take a first-year seminar, but there are many options to align with your hobbies and passions. The professors for these courses are super engaging and are focused on helping new students adjust to college through a class they are interested in.

Career goals

As a freshman, I am currently unsure of what my post-college plans are, but as a business administration major, I am aiming to do something in the marketing or accounting field (s).

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night in Charleston starts with a walk along the battery or beach. I love looking through the local shops and grabbing a bite to eat with some friends downtown. Afterward, I enjoy catching a live music performance, basketball game, or school event!
